DESCRIPTION:DJ’s Wish is excited to host Hope For Freedom Day at The Barn on Homer McCall Road in Lake Toxaway on June 7th. This fundraising event will honor those lost to illicit drugs like fentanyl and celebrate survivors with fun\, food\, and music. A K9 Demonstration by Revolutionary Canine will showcase the skill and intelligence of the handlers and dogs who work to rid our communities of harmful drugs. Transylvania County Sheriff’s Department will have an officer ready to answer questions and let your kids check out a patrol car. Area businesses from restaurants\, shops\, and accommodations have donated Raffle items to help raise funds for our efforts to help those seeking recovery from Substance Use Disorders. Throughout the day\, great music\, food\, and fun games will be available for kids and adults. Test your skills at the Jenga tower and others like Cornhole\, Horseshoes\, and more. From 6:00 – 8:00\, enjoy an acoustic concert by local musicians Kristen Toole and Sam Warner. And be sure to stay for a special Angel birthday cake and join us in honoring DJ’s heavenly birthday. DESCRIPTION:Register\n\n\n\nRegister now to attend the Freedom From Fentanyl Conference hosted by DJ’s Wish. Fentanyl has become the number one cause of death for those between 18 – 45 years of age. Teen deaths from fentanyl nearly tripled from 2019 – 2021. The purpose of this conference is to identify ways of supporting those who have lost loved ones\, helping those suffering with SUD (Substance Use Disorder)\, to gather information from law enforcement and elected officials and build a network of advocacy in Western North Carolina.Speakers include Aubrey Woodard\, Political Director for Congressman Chuck Edwards\, Special Agent Chuvalo Truesdell\, DEA Atlanta\, SBI Special Agent\, and TCSO Narcotics.Fentanyl victim families are invited to bring a photo and share your loved one’s name with our guests. We encourage you to prepare questions for the panelists – Law Enforcement\, Recovery and Prevention\, and Pain into Purpose Panels. Other organizations with similar missions are welcome to attend and tell us about your work.The illicit fentanyl crisis in our country is claiming far too many and it will take all of us to find solutions.
